DR. VONETTA KALIETA
Exceeding Expectations One Patient at a Time
Dr. Kalieta received her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts from
Monmouth University in Psychology and Psychological Counseling,
respectively.
Dr. Kalieta earned her Doctor of Psychology (Ph.D.) in Counseling
Psychology from Walden University.
Dr. Kalieta was raised in Staten Island, N.Y., as a member of a family
of D1 athletes. Dr. Kalieta has been consulting with athletes and teams
for 15 years which began with her research on the lived experience of
the college student-athlete. Dr. Kalieta and her research team's work
have been presented at the national and international levels.
Dr. Kalieta's early career began while working with the K-12 population.
First, as Teacher’s Assistant in a special needs school setting, she
then became a Student Assistance Counselor /Substance Awareness
Coordinator in several Monmouth County school districts. Next, she began
providing in-home therapy for At-Risks Youth and conducted Court-ordered
Needs Assessments for At-Risks Youth. Immediately prior to joining the
Abrams Psychological Services in her current full-time role, Dr. Kalieta
was a full-time Instructor and Approved Clinical Supervisor at the
Monmouth University Graduate Department of Psychological Counseling. In
the past few years, Dr. Kalieta has extended her interest in
psychology’s role within the tech industry and has used that interest to
expand treatment options with telehealth sparked by recent shifts in the
needs of clients.
Dr. Kalieta views life as a series of hurdles we must cross before we
can proceed to the finish line. She helps clients to find the most
effective and efficient way to make their way over the unique hurdles of
their lives.
Dr. Kalieta specializes in Solution Focused therapy to address Athletic
Performance, Women's Issues, and Adjustment Issues specifically with
elite high school, collegiate, and professional athletes. Goal setting
is her passion and inspires others to see that all life's challenges are
here to help us grow and can be overcome. She believes that her role as
a psychologist is to help clients remove the obstacles to peak performance
in sport and in life. She provides individual and group therapy to
clients from a milieu of life experiences and for athletes and teams
participating in the professional, collegiate, elite high school, and
youth leagues level of sport.
